Terry wants Stamford Bridge fortress

John Terry is adamant that Chelsea can make Stamford Bridge a fortress again under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Blues have started the season in excellent form under the guidance of former AC Milan coach, Ancelotti who has brought his famous 'diamond formation' to Chelsea.

With so many more home games to be played this season domestically and in Europe, Terry knows what needs to be done in order for his side to bring the glory days back to London.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, the England captain said: "We're on our way to building a fortress at Stamford Bridge again, not slipping up at home, and that's something we've got to build on.

"Here we've got one of the tightest pitches around which you might think makes it easier for the opposition to defend on but when you know it like we do, that's not always the case.

"It's not about losing at Stamford Bridge. It's about winning. And that side of our game is something we can really build on this year."

Chelsea are unbeaten in the eight home games this season and have only conceded one goal scored by Hull's Stephen Hunt on the opening day of the season.

Terry is not about to let his men get carried away by the excellent start and wants them to soldier on and focus on each game individually.

He warned: "We have been playing really well at home but last season it was the opposite. We drew too many games and threw away too many points but we did really well away from home.

"This season we have started really well at home, won our big games like against Liverpool, which we didn't do last year.

"We were unbelievable away last year but we can't buy a win at the minute. We're not playing great and hitting our top form. Away from home you can say we haven't had that bit of luck."

Next up on the agenda for the Blues will be a home game against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
