Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen has given birth to a boy at Liverpool Women's Hospital.

According to Sky News, the baby was born at 2.20pm and was nine days overdue.

"Mother and baby are both absolutely fine," a spokesman for the couple said.

"Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life."

Rooney missed training with United and was reportedly beside his wife during the whole procedure.

The England striker could now miss Manchester United's game against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
