Fergie turned down foreign overtures

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he has turned down the chance to manage abroad during his time at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United manager has led the club to remarkable success during his 23 years in charge - and so it is little surprise that he has been coveted by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

However, speaking to the News of the World Fergie claimed that he has never been genuinely interested.

"I've had offers from clubs to go abroad, but I've never been tempted by them.

"I am not going on record to say who they are, but you'd be surprised by the names.

"It flies over your head and you get on with life. You don't leave Manchester United."

United face a vital game on Sunday against league leaders Chelsea - who will extend their lead over the Red Devils to five points if they can win at Stamford bridge.
