Benitez fears the worst for duo

Liverpool's injury woes continue to mount as Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun were both taken off with suspected torn hamstrings.

Birmingham held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield on Monday to put even more pressure on Reds boss Rafael Benitez. They are now 11 points behind leaders Chelsea. The Spaniard will now have to grapple with more injury problems.

According to the Reds' official website, Benitez revealed that Riera was risked even though he wasn't '100% ready' while Benayoun played too many matches.

Benitez said: "Riera had the same problem as before. The players are sometimes available but not 100 per cent ready. We thought he was okay but in the end you can see he wasn't.

"Yossi has the same problem as Riera. Some players are playing too many games in a row. They are working very hard and so you always have this risk. I think both will have tears.

"Agger also had a problem with his back. It's not serious but he felt it a little bit."
