Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has been recalled into the Italian Under-21 squad because of an injury crisis.

Macheda was initially dropped for Italy's Under-21 European Championship tie against Hungary on Friday as well as their match against Luxembourg on Tuesday.

But according to football-italia.net, the United striker has been handed a recall because of an injury to Parma forward Alberto Paloschi.

U21 Italy coach Gigi Casiraghi has also called up Cremonese defender Michele Cremonesi after Catania's Giuseppe Bellusci was forced to pull out.

The Azzurrini desperately need two wins to keep their Euro 2011 hopes alive after collecting just four points from the nine available so far.
