Bendtner aims to be world's best

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendter has stated he intends to be one of the world's best strikers within the next five years.

Bendtner, who has yet to command a regular place in Arsene Wenger's side, raised eyebrows with his comments after being crowned Denmark's Player of the Year in Copenhagen ealier this week.

The confident Dane claimed he was capable of topping the scoring charts in the Premier League and at next year's World Cup, and that within five years expected to be one of the best players on the planet.

Upon accepting the award Bendtner said "I had three aims this year - to get into the Arsenal team, qualify for the World Cup and to be [Denmark's] Player of the Year. I have achieved them all.

"I want to be top scorer in the Premier League, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world."

Bendtner recently underwent minor surgery in Germany, after suffering a groin injury during Arsenal's 3-0 win over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and is expected to be out of action for at least a month.
