Beckham: I had Premier League offers
David Beckham has admitted that he had offers to return to England before ultimately choosing to return to AC Milan on loan.
Beckham hopes his return to Milan will be as successful as his first stint there when he returns to Italy in 2010 after the MLS Cup final.
The veteran midfielder hopes playing in the Serie A will boost his chances of playing for England in the World Cup, after Fabio Capello stated that he will only choose players who are playing regularly for their clubs.
However, while Beckham is happy to be back with the Rossoneri, he revealed that he was contacted by BPL sides before making Italy his next destination.
Beckham, who was linked with Tottenham, told Sky Sports News: "There were options there. But I always said that when I left Milan, if I had the chance to go back, I would go back there.
"If they wanted me, I would go back there. That was always my No.1 choice, if I had a choice.
"I am honoured that they want me and I can't wait to go back."
Asked if he had offers from the Premier League, Beckham refused to disclose specific clubs, saying: "There was a couple."
Beckham reiterated his stance that he has no regrets in moving to LA after shocking many by moving to the MLS from La Liga.
He said in the Seattle Times: "People came up to me after my first few months and after my first year here and asked me if I regretted my decision to come here and play," said Beckham. "And they still ask me the same question now. And I've always said, 'no I don't.'
"I'm still enjoying playing here. I think you always go through difficult times, in life, in your work and with people and it's about how you handle yourself.
"I've always tried to handle myself in the right way, which is playing soccer and working hard. Sometimes that's good enough for people and sometimes it's not."
