Tevez: Liverpool slump great news

Manchester City star Carlos Tevez has revealed that he is delighted with Liverpool's poor form this season.

The Eastlands outfit travel to Anfield for a high profile Premier League game today, convinced that they have what it takes to break into the top four - possibly at Liverpool's expense.

Rafa Benitez's men have struggled so far this campaign. They have already lost five league games and are on the brink of elimination from the Champions League.

City are currently sixth, one place above Liverpool, and Tevez, with one eye on qualifying for next season's Champions League competition, is hoping his side can ram home their advantage against the struggling Merseyside giants.

"If Liverpool keep on having problems, it will help us qualify for next year's Champions League," the Argentina striker told The Sun.

"Of course, we have to focus on ourselves and on what we do. But it is not bad news for us that Liverpool are struggling so far this year."

Despite reported interest from Liverpool, Tevez joined City from Manchester United last summer in a deal worth a massive £25million.

Having turned his back on Liverpool, and not mention his United connections, Tevez knows he is in for a rough ride at Anfield.

"I don't care if the crowd are against me," he declared.

"I know City's fans care about people who care about me."
