Bruce happy with current squad

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce insists he is in no rush to add to his squad in the January transfer window.

Bruce has seen his options hit by long-term injuries to key duo Craig Gordon and Lee Cattermole in recent weeks.

The Black Cats chief admits he would like to bring in a few more faces, but only if the right players are available.

"I've not really looked, if I'm honest, because the big clubs don't usually have a shuffle in January," Bruce told the Sunday Sun.

"I could do with perhaps just a couple more bodies, but then managers are always going to say that!

"The one thing I never want to do is work with a huge squad - that's why I wanted to trim this one when I came here.

"If there's anybody available who I think can improve us then I will ask the question.

"But I'm really happy with the balance of the squad as it stands at the moment."
