Obertan: I’m no Cristiano Ronaldo!
Manchester United’s Gabriel Obertan has rubbished claims that he is set to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
Obertan has yet to feature regularly for Man United, but his few first-team outings have offered a promising preview of his ability.
However, the Frenchman has dismissed comparisons with the former Red Devils superstar and has decided to be himself.
"I'm not Ronaldo's successor," he told the press after United's 1-0 loss to Besiktas.
"I just try to be Gabriel Obertan and just work hard. There's no comparison possible for now."
Although the former Bordeaux winger has played well since recovering from injury, Obertan is keen to open his Red Devils scoring account.
"I tried to and want to do more. I've not scored yet or made an assist," he continued.
"I've had some good performances when I've come on, but I want to do more than that. I think I could do more. I really wish I could do more."
Asked if a player from France can succeed in the more physical Premier League, Obertan responded: "I think it is better for me to play in England than France. There is more space and the game is quicker."
