Neville: Pool got what they deserved
Gary Neville has no sympathy over Liverpool's Champions League, saying they got what they deserved.
Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage for the first time in six seasons despite a 1-0 win at Debrecen. Fiorentina's win over Lyon ensured it's the Italians who go through at the expense of Liverpool.
The Manchester United defender was part of the United team that suffered the same fate in the Champions League in 2005. According to skysports.com, the defender felt that Liverpool lacked the necessary quality to progess in Europe.
"As a team, you get what you deserve don't you?" he said.
"We are where we are because we deserve to be there and it's the same with Liverpool.
"We went out ourselves a few years back. They just haven't performed well enough in the Champions League to get the results."
