Wenger worry over Black Eye Gallas
Arsene Wenger is sweating over the availability of William Gallas ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash against Chelsea.
Although his ankle has recovered sufficiently, Gallas may not play in the crucial London derby because of his swollen eyes.
According to arsenal.com, the Frenchman's eye is still so swollen that he cannot even put in his contact lenses. Gallas suffered the facial injury after an accidental clash with Andrey Arshavin in the Champions League match against Standard Liege.
When asked about Gallas, Arsene Wenger told Arsenal TV Online on Thursday that the defender is still very doubtful for their next game.
"There is a big question mark about him at the moment," said Wenger.
"I cannot say that William Gallas will play, unfortunately. The ankle should be alright but the eye is still very, very, very swollen.
"He wears contact lenses and at the moment he would not get them in. We hope on Sunday it will be better. He is not comfortable but I am optimistic because we still have three days. It is Thursday today and we play on Sunday afternoon so, we are confident he can make it. Arshavin is OK. He was shocked but he is OK."
In the same game, Arsenal also lost left-back Kieran Gibbs who fractured a metatarsal bone in the dying minutes.
"Apart from Gibbs no-one is out or in from Tuesday," said Wenger. "Everybody else should be normally available.
"Diaby and Bendtner will be the first to come back. They will be out for the same time now. I think it will take another two weeks for both of them to be back in full training."
