Captain John Terry has called on Chelsea to remain focused to convert their excellent start into a Premier League title.

Didier Drogba's brace and a Thomas Vermaelen own goal saw the Blues win 3-0 to end Arsenal's 100% home record and sit five points clear at the top of the table.

Terry told Sky Sports 1: "We've been there before and thrown it away, so we need to regroup and stay together, but at the moment you can see people throwing their bodies in front of balls and everyone fighting for each other, which is great to see.

"We're playing really well, we have great confidence and great team spirit, and we need to continue this."

The Blues faced sustained pressure in the first half, but two goals in three minutes as the interval approached put them on the front foot and Drogba's late free-kick clinched an ultimately convincing win.

Terry continued: "We expected it, we watched a lot of videos on them and we all know they are probably the best at playing possession.

"We did our job and soaked it up and, going forward, I thought the midfield and attack were exceptional - Nico (Anelka) and Didier spreading wide and our midfielders getting through the middle of them caused them all sorts of problems."

Arsene Wenger felt his Arsenal side were "unfortunate" to go in 2-0 down after their strong first-half showing, and was angered by referee Andre Marriner's decision to disallow Andrey Arshavin's goal early in the second half.

He told Sky Sports: "(Chelsea's) first shot on goal went in, and for the second goal there was a misunderstanding between the keeper and Vermaelen. We found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time and I thought we were very unfortunate."

Arshavin's strike at 2-0 was chalked off after Eduardo was adjudged to have fouled keeper Petr Cech in the build-up.

Wenger fumed: "The referee cancelled a goal and nobody understands why. What is he doing? I watched it five times and nobody touches Cech - he lets the ball down, we score and he (Marriner) cancels the goal.

"If you watch it, it's a Chelsea player who does it - Eduardo is behind the ball. I think that was a very big turning point in the game today."
