Liverpool have rejected news that they have snapped up Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh for £25million.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have refuted rumours that claimed the Reds have signed the Moroccan forward by offering him a £12m signing on fee and a contract reported to be worth more than £60,000 a week.

Chamakh, who has also been heavily linked with Arsenal, would have been available as a Bosman in June and will reportedly decide on his future at the end of the current transfer window.

Liverpool have however not denied making a bid for the highly-rated 26-year-old striker but they are still waiting to hear whether their bid to land him has been successful.
