Vidic and Ferdinand: Last resort

Manchester United’s crocked defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are undergoing secret sessions at a clinic as “the last resort”.

The pair have struggled to overcome long term injuries that have plagued them throughout the current season.

The News of the World reports that the Blackberry Clinic is attempting to find a solution to the mysterious back and calf problems that have sidelined Ferdinand for three months until two weeks ago, Vidic meanwhile continues to struggle with a calf injury.

The clinic specializes in treating back, neck and joint pains. Rehabilitation programmes feature Pilates and other exercises to prevent recurrence.

The defensive pair seem to be responding to the treatment as Ferdinand made his comeback during United's trashing of Hull, although Vidic has yet to feature since pulling out of the FA Cup defeat to Leeds United in early January.

Speculation has been rife that Vidic wants a move away from Old Trafford, a rumour that has been fuelled by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's recent purchase of Fulham centre back Chris Smalling and his admiration for Everton's Jack Rodwell.
