Chamakh: I want to join Arsenal
Bordeaux ace Marouane Chamakh has revealed that he would prefer to join Arsenal rather than Rafa Benitez's Liverpool.
The Morocco international is set to leave the French club on a free at the end of the season, with many observers suggesting that Liverpool are likely to land the talented striker.
However, Chamakh, who failed to find the target during Bordeaux's 4-2 defeat at Rennes on Saturday, has now declared that north London would be his ideal destination if a move to England was to happen.
"My choice is to join a Premier League club. If I had a choice, I would go to Arsenal," the 26-year-old told The Sun.
"Bordeaux gave me a lot. I will soon clarify things so the club can prepare my successor."
Liverpool recently refuted rumours that they had signed the Moroccan forward thanks to a £12m signing on fee and a contract reported to be worth more than £60,000 a week.
Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger is thought to have made a counter-offer in a meeting with Chamakh's agents a few weeks ago, but that he did not match the Reds' wage offer.
