Marek Cech hopes for quick recovery

West Brom defender Marek Cech is confident he will be fit for the Premier League opener with champions Chelsea on August 14.

Cech was given an extended break after being part of Slovakia's World Cup squad which reached the last 16 in South Africa.

He only reported back for training last week but played 45 minutes in the friendly clash with Coventry and believes he will be up to speed to face Chelsea.

Cech, who helped Albion gain promotion last season, said: "I feel like I need to work a lot now because the Chelsea game is very near.

"I am happy that I am back and training but fitness-wise I'm certainly not what you would call top quality at the moment.

"I feel this week I will improve a lot and, for sure, I will be ready for the Chelsea game.

"I have just under two weeks until the game and that is enough time to get in the right physical condition."
