Spurs in shock move for Adebayor
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has made a shock move for want-away Manchester City striker Emmanual Adebayor.
According to The Daily Mirror, talks have been ongoing at the highest level with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy ready to sanction a loan deal and payment of nearly half of Adebayor's £170,000-a-week salary to land him at White Hart Lane.
The Togo striker has made known his desire to leave Eastlands following the arrival of Mario Balotelli at the club as he fears he would not play regular first-team football.
His fears seemed to have compounded after starting only three of City's five games so far.
Although he started the club's Europa League play-off game away to FC Poli, he came on for just eight minutes of City's opening Premier League game against Spurs.
He was also a substitute for City's defeat at Sunderland on Sunday, coming on in the final 15 minutes.
Despite his fall-out with the club, the 26-year-old is still one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League and Redknapp is ready to revive his career at White Hart Lane after failing in his bid to sign Luis Fabiano, who signed a new deal with Sevilla.
Adebayor's arrival at Tottenham could mean a second Arsenal-linked player to be signed by the Spurs manager, having earlier snapped up William Gallas.
Meanwhile, City second-choice goalkeeper Shay Given has turned down the chance to join up with former manager Mark Hughes at Fulham after deciding to stay and fight for his place.
