Sheringham: I want to play with Bale
Teddy Sheringham has picked out Gareth Bale as the player among the current Tottenham Hotspur squad he most wants to play with.
Sheringham is a fan favourite at White Hart Lane and was part of Ossie Ardiles' 'Famous Five' which took England by storm in the early days of the Premier League.
The former Manchester United striker was fortunate to play alongside the attacking likes of Darren Anderton, Jurgen Klinsmann, Nicky Barmby and Ilie Dumitrescu during his time at Spurs.
However, Sheringham has no doubts he would have equally appreciated playing with the club's new crop of heroes especially the Welsh wing wizard Bale.
"It's very hard to find quality left-wingers and Bale has got everything - pace, power and great ability with the ball," he was quoted in Daily Express as saying.
"When he gets to the byline the move doesn't fizzle out. He puts his crosses exactly where he wants them and any striker would enjoy his sort of delivery."
With Spurs continuing to fly high following last season's fourth-placed Premier League finish, it is not surprising that Sheringham has plenty of praise for Bale's team-mates including Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
"He's a fantastic player and I love watching him play. But there are so many great players at Tottenham these days," Sheringham said.
Another Spurs player looking to make a similar impact to Van der Vaart in his debut season is new signing Steven Pienaar.
The South African has just signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the club following his move from Everton.
