Fabregas ready to lead Arsenal charge

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas hopes to return "stronger than ever" from his latest injury to lead the Gunners battle for the title.

The Spain midfielder admits it has been a "weird season" interrupted by a string of niggling hamstring problems, which led to him missing the Carling Cup final at Wembley.

Fabregas has not featured since the Champions League defeat by former club Barcelona in the Nou Camp on March 8.

However, the 23-year-old hopes to be back in action after the international break, when Arsenal will be out to close the five-point gap on leaders Manchester United and salvage something from their campaign.

Speaking during a live video stream on Twitter to raffle a place in his box at Emirates Stadium against Blackburn on April 2, the Gunners skipper said: "My injury is getting better.

"I started running on Monday and everything is getting better.

"I needed time, because it has been a weird season for me with injuries and I just want to make it right.

"I want to come back stronger than ever and hopefully fitter than ever so it wont happen again.

"Hopefully you will see me play against Blackburn if I am fit."

The return of his inspirational captain would be a major boost for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who will be hoping an ankle injury to Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner does not prove too serious.

The 23-year-old hobbled out of today's training session in Helsingor after needing ice packed onto his ankle before being taken back to the team hotel.
