Alexis hopeful trio will stay

Alexis has stressed the importance of keeping key players at the club if Los Che are to enjoy a successful season.

The futures of the three Spain internationals David Villa, David Silva and Joaquin have been the source of much debate this summer, but it is looking increasingly likely that the trio will be at the Mestalla next season - much to Alexis' delight.

"Villa, Silva and Joaquin are three important players and if we want to do something great we have to always have them in the team, because there are few players like them in the Spanish league," said the centre-back.

Silva has already committed his future to the club while there were positive noises coming from both Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez and Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo on Monday about an impending new deal for the Spain hitman.

Alexis is also confident winger Joaquin, who has been linked with Premier League side Blackburn, will remain at the club despite Valencia recently deciding against offering the former Real Betis man an improved contract.

"He is calm. In the dressing room he is always the same - cheerful. I don't think he has any problem. He does not want to go, he is very happy at Valencia and I would not like to see him leave because it's good to have a person like him in the dressing room," Alexis added.
