Koeman: I would rather play golf
Ronald Koeman has declared that he will rather play golf in Holland than accept a one year Barcelona coaching offer.
The former Barcelona great is currently unwinding back home in his native Holland after his traumatic and short reign as Valencia boss.
The ex Dutch star admitted that if the Catalan club offered him a two-year deal somewhere down the future, he would consider it but revealed that any one-year attachments will be turned down.
"I would prefer to spend a year playing golf," he told Sportsweek.
"If they offered me a two-year contract then I would sign for Barcelona. My family? they would stay in Holland, obviously."
Koeman was actually pursued by the Austrian Football Association in the hope of guiding the national side through their World Cup qualifying campaign but he rejected the chance to do so.
"Austria called me too late, because the European Championships had already finished. If they had done it before at least we could have gone through the tournament together," he explained.
"But as things stand, I do not think they can qualify for another finals in the next few years."
"It is good to be back in Holland. It was a good experience in Spain, but is the time to give priority to my family," he added.
"I would not rule out a return to coaching, although it was all depend on the club that is making the offer. The country is less important."
