Schuster happy rotation paid off

Real Madrid's Bernd Schuster was satisfied at his side's rotation policy after their 7-1 thumping of Sporting Gijon.

The German rung the changes in their encounter against the minnows, handing precious time to the likes of Royston Drenthe, Javier Saviola and Javi García

"We have to play very important games already at this early stage and there is very little time in between," he started off during the post-match press conference.

"Players like Torres, Saviola and Javi García must be prepared to be called upon and that's why everyday, we worry about the condition of every player," he added.

Schuster revealed that his side produced a better performance against Sporting Gijón than they did against BATE Borisov in their Champions League tie last week by saying: We handled this game better."

"With the result in our favour after the first half, it was necessary to improve on what we achieved the last time we were in a similar situation.

"And it was necessary to keep going because the fans wanted to see more of us and more goals," Schuster explained.

"It is important to remember that they just came off a bitter defeat (against Barcelona) and it's not easy to play at the Bernabéu.

We knew they were going to be tight from the beginning to build up their confidence. But they could not have a worse start to the season. The league begins now for them," he concluded.
