Atletico clinch Aguero’s rights

Atletico Madrid have inked a deal with Sergio Aguero by signing on the player’s total rights and increasing the price of the buy-out clause.

Atletico are aiming to deter interested buyers for the talented Argentine.

That prompted the management to increase the buy-out clause to US$82million. With the hike, Atletico now have to fork out an additional US$6.8million for Aguero to Independiente, the club the player joined from in 2006.

The club has also signed on his total rights, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. Under the arrangement, Atletico will no longer have to pay Independiente any sum of money, should the club decide to sell Aguero.

Having donned the colours of Los Colcheneros, Aguero has netted 33 goals and established himself as an exciting player at the club.

The Marca also revealed Chelsea had tabled a bid beyond the buy-out clause in his contract. Aguero however, chose to remain at Atletico out of loyalty.
