Villa: Hard work paid off
David Villa reveals the secret behind his prolific goal-scoring run this season – and it’s simply down to sheer effort.
Villa enjoys doing his best during training. And, it has paid dividends once again this season. The Valencia star makes it look so easy scoring goals, but in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, the 26-year-old has revealed that it’s the fruit of his labour during training.
“I am very happy with the way I have started the season. It is the fruit of all the hard work that I put in every day,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.
“It is not something that is given to me and I must continue to work to maintain my form.
“I do not know what lies ahead in the coming games but I hope I can avoid any injuries and continue scoring,” he added.
In last Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Spain, Villa showcased his red-hot form to score his 12th goal in 14 games for both club and country, eight with Valencia and four for the national team.
Having scored 22 goals for Spain, Villa has leveled with Julio Salinas as the country’s all-time leading goal-scorers, and just one goal behind legend Alfredo di Stefano.
