Two-goal hero Sergio Aguero dedicated his goals that saw Atletico Madrid defeat Barcelona to his son, Benjamin.

El Kun and his striker partner Diego Forlan both netted a brace each to stun the league leaders into submission at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday night.

Aguero's family was at the stadium to catch him in action and there was particular family member who he singled out as the good luck charm on the night.

El Kun said: "My son came to the stadium to watch my play for the very first time and he brought us good luck. All of us would like to dedicate this win to him,"

But the Argentine forward was quick to laud praise on Forlan whom he thought had an exceptional night out.

"All in all, it was a great match and Forlan had a great game. He scored two really important goals for us but the entire team did very well, eventhough we made some mistakes in defence.

"We managed to overcome Barca because they did not sit back after scoring two goals, and that allowed us to take advantage of the open spaces," he explained.

Turning his attention to next weekend's massive encounter in the Madrid derby with Real, Aguero was confident that his team can beat the reigning champions.

"We are all feeling optimistic. If we can maintain our focus like we did tonight, it will be possible to beat them."

Atletico currently sit in fifth position, three points behind fourth-placed Villarreal.
