Lothar Matthaus claims that if Florentino Perez takes over Real Madrid, he will break the €100 million mark for a transfer.

Perez is set to announce his candidacy soon and is expected to win the elections in the offseason.

Big name signings have been guaranteed by the former Real Madrid supremo, many of whom are household names in football.

One of the names constantly linked to Los Blancos has been Cristiano Ronaldo, who was allegedly close to signing with Madrid last year but opted to stay in Manchester.

Matthaus is of the opinion that Perez would break the bank in an attempt to sign Ronaldo should he be reelected and told the German told Sports Bild, "He would be the first person to break the €100 million mark in history."

The German legend also touched on the potential sale of Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich for €70 million and added, "If the figure is true, Bayern should take the opportunity and sell him."

Matthaus continued, saying that if Bayern do not budge under such a massive offer, then the French star would be under a microscope in anything he does next season.

"When he watches on, as he did against Borussia Monchengladbach, or when he leaves training because of back pains, as before the game against Energie Cottbus, people will say that he is not fully focused on the team," he mused.

Finally, the German admitted that the deals between Manchester United and Real Madrid will affect any potential move for Ribery.

"If Ronaldo does not go, then Man United will not buy Ribery. Ronaldo scores thirty goals a year, Ribery doesn't," he concluded.
