Valladolid tickets 'exorbitant'
Sporting will not be taking any fans to Valladolid in protest at the "exorbitant" ticket prices set by their opponents.
The Rojiblancos have refused Valladolid's offer of 1,586 tickets and today released a statement complaining about their paltry allocation and the 75 euro cost.
"Real Sporting de Gijon very deeply regret the prices and the number of tickets Real Valladolid have released for next Saturday's game," read the statement on www.realsporting.com.
"They do that with respect to a club whose board makes the decision and who have full right as organiser of games that are played out on their own pitch, but they take this position in consideration of the always loyal Sporting fans.
"Given the whole situation Sporting declines to receive tickets which Real Valladolid have made available to their fans at 75 euros.
"The quantity does not respond to the demand for tickets which Sporting wanted ahead of this massive away trip and the price does not respond to logic as it is totally exorbitant."
The board also announced that they would not be having a pre-match meal with their Valladolid counterparts, as is the norm in Spain, nor would they be taking up their seats in the directors' box.
Sporting are 17th in the standings, level on points with Osasuna who currently occupy the last spot in the drop zone with two games remaining.
