Roma’s John Arne Riise has said he is flattered to be linked with European champions Barcelona, but that he will not be leaving Italy.

Reports in the Spanish media have suggested that the Catalan club is looking to make a bid for the former Liverpool player following the release of left-back Sylvinho after the Brazilian's contract expired earlier in the week.

Riise is happy to be linked with treble-winners Barca, but is dismissing any substance to the rumors.

"It's flattering and great to be linked with a club like Barcelona,” said the Norwegian.

"They have clearly been the best club all year. But I am a Roma player and this is just a rumour."
