Pellegrini proud of becoming Real boss

Manuel Pellegrini expressed his pride and delight at becoming Real Madrid’s coach as he spoke to the press in his native Chile.

Pellegrini left Villarreal after five successful seasons with the Yellow Submarine to take the reins at Florentino Perez's latest version of Los Blancos.

Marca have reported that Pellegrini was over the moon with his latest job.

"The pressure at Real Madrid is independent of the outcome of other teams and is always the highest," said the 55-year-old. "I want to have a career for many years, I've been passing various stages in different countries and to reach the world's biggest club is a great satisfaction."

Pellegrini takes over from Juande Ramos at the Bernabeu, after a campaign that ended with no silverware and with five consecutive defeats. Perez has assured the Bernabeu faithful that he will assemble a sizeable transfer kitty to sign players able to beat anyone in the world.

Rumours are rife that the Pellegrini may target Villarreal's Gonzalo and Diego Godin for his new central defence pairing,  while the signing of Kaka is set to be made official later this week.
