Cruyff: Ronaldo is not worth the money

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes Cristiano Ronaldo is not worth the money Real Madrid are about to pay out for him.

Real are desperate to win titles this season and they have got out to buy Ronaldo as well as Kaka in blockbuster moves this summer.

Cruyff also believes Real's £80 million capture of Ronaldo will cause a 'domino effect' around Europe.

"Nobody is worth so much money," he said on Cadena SER. "If a club invest a lot of money, a domino effect occurs and makes every team do the same.

"Right now Manchester [United] have lost a key player and they must invest what they have collected."

He added: "Real Madrid are desperate to win their 10th Champions League this season, as the final will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu."

Cruyff also pointed out that Barcelona is right to look at their own youth players.

"Each philosophy is different. Barca are about the Academy, while the other policy is all about buying players," he added.

"I'd go for the first one for its numerous assets. If 90 percent of the team comes from Catalonia or nearby and the footballers are from the club, you'll always see them as one of yours."
