Pique wants Villa at Barcelona

Gerard Pique has revealed he would like Spanish compatriot David Villa to join him at Barcelona.

Transfer rumours regarding David Villa have been rife recently, with the prolific Valencia striker seemingly on every club's wish list.

While recent developments indicate that he will stay at the Mestalla, Pique is adamant that Villa is the player he would bring in to Camp Nou.

In an interview with RAC-1, Pique said: "I would sign him [Villa] right now. It is clear that he has had a great season with Valencia and he would fit in perfectly at Barcelona."

Both players are currently on International duty with the rest of the Spanish squad at the Confederations Cup, although Pique has not spoken to Villa regarding the move.

"Each person decides where they should go, so it is not a talking point and I prefer not to ask him because in cases like this many things can happen," he added.

Speaking about rivals Real Madrid's spending spree, and the inevitable run-in with Cristiano Ronaldo, the 22-year-old was unnerved: "My display will be the same as in Rome. We have to trust ourselves.

"After the year they had it was clear they had to reinforce to win titles, but we do not think there is pressure on us to sign."

Regarding his own future, the centre-back declared, "I have already told my agent that I do not want to hear any offers because I am very comfortable and happy at Barca".
