‘El Guaje' still up for grabs
According to Spanish media, Barcelona are to have another go at signing Valencia hitman David Villa.
The services of the Spaniard have previously been thought to be Mestalla-exclusive.
Valencia president Manuel Llorente had slammed the door shut on interested clubs, declaring that unless a "scandalous offer" comes knocking; the 27-year-old is not for sale.
However, the Onda Cero radio station believes that the Camp Nou hierarchy are still hoping to pull off such a feat.
Sports, however, are more confident of Barca's ability of securing ‘El Guaje' ahead of rivals Real Madrid, with reports claiming Real are unable to come to an agreement with Valencia on Viila's transfer fee.
Camp Nou trio, Pep Guardiola, Txiki Begiristain and Joan Laporta, have admitted that the Spaniard would be an integral cog in their future plans.
With no more than €35m to spend, however, Barca are far from tabling a "scandalous offer".
The sale of Samuel Eto'o could rectify that situation, with TV3 reporting that the Cameroonian striker value is tagged in the range of €30-35m. Such a sale would generate enough cash to finance their planned €40m bid.
