Villa continues to stall on future

Valencia striker David Villa is refusing to talk about the future even after Spain’s shock elimination from the Confederations Cup.

The forward has been plagued by speculation about a move away from the Mestalla, first linked strongly with Real Madrid, and now with Barcelona, while Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been in the picture as well.

However, Villa has given the press very little information, as he turned down opportunities to talk to reporters and insisted that he was trying to stay away from the rumours about his future, insisting that he had left everything to his agent and club.

"I have not talked to anyone. We have decided to stay away from the topic until after the Confederations Cup," AS reported Villa saying.

"Whatever I have to talk about with Valencia, I will do so from Sunday onwards."

Valencia too have been see-sawing over their position with the striker. Financial troubles mean that they are likely to sell their star man, but have earlier said that he is ‘off the market', with Los Che president Manuel Llorente insisting that ‘El Guaje' was not transferable.

However, the Spanish media continues to report otherwise - while Real Madrid said they had ended their pursuit of the striker, Barcelona are hot favourites to seal the Spanish star's signature, while he has also fueled speculation of a Liverpool move by claiming he would like to join forces with his international strike partner, Fernando Torres.

Apparently, Villa will make a decision after Sunday, but don't be surprised if this saga continues to drag on.
