Drenthe on the verge of Viola deal
Real Madrid full back Royston Drenthe is very close to joining Fiorentina, according to reports in the Italian press.
The Dutch wing back seems very close to completing the deal, and sources said that the announcement of the move could be made within the next 24 hours.
Sky Sport 24 reported that FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who handles most transfers on the Italy-Spain axis, was in Milan to finalize negotiations.
The 22-year-old is likely to join the Viola on a one-year loan deal, with the option of purchasing him for €12 million after that. However, Bronzetti has said Fiorentina were not willing to dish out that sum as yet.
"[Fiorentina manager Pantaleo] Corvino is only willing to spend €7-8 million to buy the player outright however," Bronzetti said to Sky Sport 24.
"Drenthe is still young, and is one of the most wanted Real Madrid players."
Drenthe was considered one of Real's brightest prospects after impressing for the Dutch u-21 side and Feyenoord, but has been unable to cement a place in the starting line up with inconsistent performances.
