Coupet set to leave Atletico
Paris Saint-Germain seem likely to complete the signing of former French international goalkeeper Gregory Coupet from Atletico Madrid, as Le Parisien has reported that the Spanish side have accepted a bid of €1 million for the veteran shot stopper.
PSG have long had Coupet in their sights, but the deal seems to have finally come through . Reports earlier this year expected him to join in the January transfer window but there was a breakdown of negotiations.
The Paris-based publication has also claimed that Coupet needs to pass a medical and agree to contract terms, and he is expected to be signed on a 2-year deal. Indeed, according to France Football, the transfer is not a "cause for concern" for the PSG board, suggesting the deal is close to complete.
With Coupet coming in to the side, there have been reports of current PSG no.1 Mickael Landreau transferring to Lille or Toulouse, and although they may well be baseless rumours, Landreau will certainly not be content with a place on the bench in Paris.
Atletico, meanwhile, are said to have agreed terms for the signing of Spanish u-21 keeper Sergio Asenjo, and it seems likely that the Valladolid man will immediately move directly into the starting line up in Madrid.
