Ivan Marcano is set to complete his move to Villarreal today after the club reached an agreement with Racing Santander.

Villarreal have confirmed they have struck a deal for Marcano and, pending a successful medical, the 22-year-old will sign a six-year contract and will be presented at 1300 local time today.

Santander-born Marcano came up through the youth ranks at Racing and is a Spain Under-21 international who is principally a centre-back but can also play at left-back.

Villarreal have also announced that midfield playmaker Mati Fernandez is on his way to Sporting Lisbon.

The 23-year-old Chile international joined Villarreal in 2006 from Colo-Colo and played 91 official games for the Primera Division outfit.
