Pep to Villa: "We will wait"

Pep Guardiola has his sights firmly set on David Villa and is willing to put other transfers on hold until he gets his man.

Despite reports in the Spanish media that fellow Primera Liga side Valencia are trying to prevent their star striker from leaving, the Barcelona manager is adamant that the 27-year-old will line-up for his side next season.

The Blaugrana boss allegedly contacted Villa via telephone, telling him “we will wait for you” – reassuring the player who has frequently expressed his desire to join the club.

This follows a decision from Valencia president Manuel Llorente to reject a massive €40 million (£34million) offer from the Catalan giants, suggesting that Barca may have to table an even larger offer to bring the Spainish international to Camp Nou.

If Villa does join Barcelona it will almost certainly spell the end of Samuel Eto’o’s time at the club after Pep Guardiola decided that the 28-year-old would not feature in his new look front-line.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both stated that they are not intrested in the Cameroonian, Italian giants Inter and AC Milan are both thought to be keeping tabs on the player.
