Inter discuss swap deal with Barca

Inter Milan have confirmed they are in talks with Barcelona over the possible transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Nou Camp.

Moratti met Barca counterpart Joan Laporta yesterday to discuss a potential switch.

Reports in the Spanish press claim the deal is all but completed with Inter set to receive 35million euros as well as land Eto'o and Barcelona winger Aleksander Hleb.

"It was interesting for them (Barcelona) to know something about Ibrahimovic, and talk about Eto'o, two players of the same quality," said Moratti on the club's official website, www.inter.it.

"We are trying to see if it is possible to enter both players in a deal.

"This meeting was something that is born out of the friendship between two presidents, who are trying to figure out if there is a possibility that we can work together."

Moratti would welcome the arrival of 28-year-old Eto'o, who is under contract with Barca for a further season.

"He is a player that we have always admired," said Moratti.

Ibrahimovic, who finished as the top scorer in Serie A last season, has been at the centre of transfer speculation in recent months with Barca, Real Madrid and Manchester United all reportedly interested.

The 27-year-old is under contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2013 but earlier this year expressed his desire to leave the club.

"With regards to Ibrahimovic I think it's an issue that has arisen because of the wishes of the player," said Moratti.

But Moratti is keeping Nerazzurro coach Jose Mourinho up to date with the developments.

"Mourinho is being constantly informed," he said.

Moratti confirmed the two clubs have finalised the transfer of Brazilian defender Maxwell to Barca, while Inter are also in talks to sign winger Alexander Hleb from the Catalan giants.

"We've completed Maxwell´s transfer," said Moratti. "I'm happy he is going to play at a big club like Barcelona because he is a great player.

"Now we are trying to complete Hleb´s transfer."

Moratti also spoke of the arrival of defender Lucio from Bayern Munich.

The Brazil captain passed a medical today and is set to pen a three-year contract with the Italian champions.

"It's a great signing," said Moratti. "We are all happy for him because he was delighted to join Inter."
