Miguel Torres has praised Cristiano Ronaldo, lauding the superstar’s efforts in training in Real Madrid’s pre-season in Ireland.

The Portuguese star has been adapting his game to his new team's style of play, and Torres has been overwhelmed, telling Spanish tabloid Marca, "He has surprised me in person, he is different to how he appears on television."

"He is very hard-working, the first to arrive and the last to leave. I have not seen someone with his power since Roberto Carlos, and, along with Messi, he has the best ball control in the world."

"I hope people will appreciate his talents, and not speak about his transfer fee."

Torres then went on to speak about his future with Real, saying, "It was my decision to stay, and I hope the coach will give me opportunities."

"Jorge Valdano called me and said that they did not want to sell me or loan me out. "

"I am going to give a hundred percent so that the coach trusts in me."
