Platini slams Real Madrid again
Michel Platini has again unloaded on Real Madrid after their lavish spending in the transfer window this offseason.
Platini was in his hometown of Joeuf as the city hosted its centennial festival with a friendly match between AS Nancy and Juventus.
The match ended 1-1, but the French legend chose the post-match interview to take a shot at Los Blancos one more time.
"I am concerned by the inflation [in transfers] and it upsets me," he said.
"I do not understand such policies at certain clubs. I find it hard to accept the idea that some people are ready to spend without counting, when they don't have the money to do so."
"Obviously, I'm referring to Real Madrid. But it doesn't bother me if a club spend €40 million on a player as long as they have the funds."
Platini continued to talk about other serious football issues, including the standard of refereeing and the ‘6+5' policy.
"When it comes to video refereeing, the problem is not technical but simply human," he explained.
"To get out of this rut, we need more referees... not more cameras. As for the 6+5 project, we are currently working with the EU. But the plan is on track."
Platini concluded the media session by talking about his youth career at Joeuf.
"I spent 11 years with AS Joeuf [youth team] until I was 17, working with people such as my father, Aldo," said Platini. "It changed our lives, it gave us a goal, an ideal, and a way of living thanks to football."
"At that time, there wasn't anything else except football. There was little to no television, and there certainly wasn't any internet."
