Roma interested in loaning Huntelaar

AS Roma are set to step up in their interest of Real Madrid forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, offering to take the Dutchman on loan.

Luciano Spaletti is demanding a centre-forward to bolster his front-line and the Giallorossi are looking to the striker as the possible solution to placate their coach.

Spaletti has stated his desire to play a 4-4-2 formation next season, and Roma tried to oblige with a one-year offer for Julio Cruz on a free transfer. However, Lazio are now the favourites for the Argentine striker's services, after Claudio Lotito and his club offered the veteran a two-year deal.

Meanwhile, Florentino Perez has stated that he is attempting to recoup €100 million from the fire-sale of his Dutch contingent. Roma might have a problem convincing Los Merengues into loaning Huntelaar to them for a season.

However, Huntelaar may be tempted with a switch to Italy, which could swing the deal in Roma's favour.
