Javi Garcia signs deal

Javi Garcia signs deal

Benfica confirmed on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for midfielder Javi Garcia.

The Portuguese club released a statement in which they revealed they have agreed a fee of seven million euros for the youngster, who has signed a five-year deal at the Estadio da Luz, subject to a medical.

Benfica have also inserted a 30million euro release clause in his contract.

Garcia, a product of the Madrid youth academy, is a highly-promising 22-year-old but has found his appearances limited at the Spanish giants.

He was sold to Osasuna in 2007 but Madrid exercised a buy-back option the following summer.

However, following the signings of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol, the former Spain under-21 international has been allowed to leave the Bernabeu.
