Ibrahimovic out for four weeks
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been scheduled to make his Barcelona debut in late August after having an operation on his broken hand.
Ibrahimovic arrived at the Nou Camp to a great reception on Monday, with 60,000 fans present for his unveiling, but they will have to wait as far as his first official match with Barca is concerned.
Barcelona's physicians looked at scans of his hand during the Swede's medical and decided that that surgery was needed to mend the injury he sustained while featuring in a friendly for Inter against Chelsea in the US.
"We took a good look at his broken hand and it's a break at the base of the second metacarpal on his left hand," Doctor Ricard Pruna was quoted as saying by the Blaugrana's official website.
"We'll have to try and fix it so he can be back to playing as soon as possible."
The operation was a success, but the striker will not recover in time to play for La Blaugrana this month. He will, however, travel with the team as they embark on a trip to the US.
Ibrahimovic's debut for Barca could come against Man City in the Trofeu Joan Gamper on August 19, or he could rest a further four days to take on Athletic Club in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
