Resino content with Emirates test
Atletico Madrid coach Abel Resino was able to take away plenty of positives from his side's showing at the Emirates Cup last weekend.
Having been beaten 2-1 by hosts Arsenal on Saturday, Atletico were then held to a 1-1 draw by Paris St Germain yesterday despite the French side being reduced to 10 men before half-time in an incident that saw Sergio Aguero put the Rojiblancos ahead from the penalty spot.
Atletico may not have managed a victory in London, but Resino was far from disappointed with his side's two outings, saying: "This Emirates Cup has been important with regards to the work done and for being a good series of tests.
"The team played seriously and that's why I'm going away happy, in general terms. We've finished a cycle and from now on another one begins which has to be more intense as we look forward to the Champions League qualifiers."
He added: "We had scoring chances against PSG and that's important, bearing in mind that they start their league soon.
"Against PSG, for example, we also ended up playing with four lads from the reserves and that's very good for the club. Perhaps this detail is the best thing to take from the tournament, as they're lads who are more prepared than one might have thought initially."
