Real Madrid coach, Manuel Pellegrini, has hinted that Raul will be spending more time on the bench this coming season.

Raul has been a mainstay at the Bernabeu for the past decade but his starting berth has come under intense scrutiny with the likes of Kaka, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo now at the club.

Speaking to the Marca, Pellegrini said: "Raul, just like everyone else, could be left out [of the team] many times but he will understand it,.

On the subject of how to maximise Kaka and Ronaldo's potential, the Chilean coach seems to have found the solution.

"The best place for Cristiano is not out on the wings.
The best for him is to play in every position," he analysed.

"As for Kaka, he is a superstar... someone who can change the tempo of the game as well as the team."
