Perez: Ties have been mended
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes he has a good relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson had previously lashed out at the Spanish giants' pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, which was spearheaded by Perez's predecessor Ramon Calderon.
The current Los Blancos chief, however, has full confidence that ties have been mended.
Speaking to FourFourTwo magazine, Perez said: "Alex Ferguson has only positive things to say about me.
"Our relationship with English clubs is positive. My personal priority is to ensure that relationships between clubs are cordial. Fair play works on and off the pitch."
Real Madrid had gone on an infamous spending spree in the past summer, securing Ronaldo's services at a world transfer record of £80 million.
Perhaps Perez's confidence comes from the successful signing of the Portuguese winger, as Ferguson had previously declared he "would not sell that mob [Real Madrid] a virus".
Now the head honcho at the Bernabeu sets his sights for more ‘damage control'.
"Our model sustains itself...[Zinedine] Zidane, for example, was a cheap signing as his arrival allowed new commercial deals and generated revenue.
"I left the club in a sound financial state and on top of European football. I want to put right the damage done over the last three years," Perez continued.
