Roma's Julio Baptista is believed to be the next defensive midfielder on Barcelona's shortlist.

According to Corriere dello Sport, speculation is rife that the Brazilian will be leaving Roma in January.

Barcelona are on  a lookout for midfielders as Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita will not be available for selection at the start of next year because of the African Nations Cup.

Baptista was close to joining the reigning Italian champions Inter in the summer, however following the failure of that deal, this would certainly be an option worth considering for the former Real Madrid and Arsenal player.
