No improved deal for Guardiola yet
Barcelona are not in a hurry to offer Pep Guardiola and his assistant Tito Vilanova improved contracts.
This was despite the massive success the duo has brought to the club last season.
Barcelona sporting director Rafael Yuste has insisted they will not be forced into negotiations with the Triplete-winning coach.
Ironically, the majority of the backroom staff has been given improved deals until 2011, with the exception of Guardiola and Vilanova.
However, Yuste discussed with COM Radio the progress of a new deal and stated, "Things have to be natural and we will not force any situation. It's clear that I personally would like to renew, along with Tito [Vilanova], but the board do not want to pressure him.
"The continuity of [Pep] Guardiola at the club will depend on him, as he will always do what it best for him and the club."
In addition, Yuste acknowledged recent comments from Guardiola that suggested the coach was dissatisfied with the depth of his squad that is embarking on another grueling campaign, and added that he too believes the side may have required one or two more new faces.
He said, "It is short. We strengthened the workforce and did not cut the staff. Now we must hope that we are lucky with injuries."
