Negredo set for Sevilla debut
Record signing Alvaro Negredo is set to make his Sevilla debut this weekend - increasing the competition for places at the club.
Coach Manolo Jimenez confirmed that the former Madrid man will be partnered in attack by Luis Fabiano for this weekend's clash with Real Zaragoza, and is hopeful the striker will help kick-start Sevilla's season following their opening day defeat against Valencia.
Speaking to Spanish daily Marca about the striking talent now at his disposal Jiminez said "If he [Fabiano] is at 100 per cent the week before a Champions League game, he is always going to play, so yes he will play. The problem will be when I want to play all three, Fabiano, Negredo and [Frederic] Kanoute,"
The Nervionenses coach also spoke briefly about the criticism he received following the defeat at the Mestalla, saying that the fans have a right to criticise, but insisted that he will not let it affect him.
He added, "The fans are free, they are not lambs, they have a right to think and say what they want. We will work to achieve our objectives, despite those who are critical of us.
"We must be aware that we are not going to win every game. The important thing is to focus on winning tomorrow."
